Course Summary
Students will demonstrate a good understanding of the double entry model and accounting principles and concepts as these form the foundation of all financial accounting techniques. Students will also need to demonstrate quantitative skills that are relevant to the subject. Students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of formulas used for calculations, carry out calculations and use the results of calculations to inform judgements, solve problems and make decisions. Students must focus their ability to write effectively so that they can report to stakeholders, making logical arguments and providing sound judgements based on analysis of available evidence taking account of financial and non-financial factors.

- An Introduction to the role of the accountant in business
- The double entry model
- Accounting concepts used in preparation of accounting records
- Analysis and evaluation of financial information
- Representatives from financial services visit the classes to explain progression and apprenticeships in the financial sector.
- Additional revision workshops support learners in preparation for exams.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All exams are at the end of two years of study.
Paper 1 - 3 hours written exam, 120 marks, 50% of the A-Level
Paper 2 - 3 hours written exam, 120 marks, 50% of the A-Level
Entry requirements
At least 5 or more GCSE grades 9-4 including English Language and Maths at grade 5 and above
