If you want to break away from Shakespeare and see what else English has to offer this is the course for you! Designed with a focus on the integration of language and literature, this course enables students to see how linguistic and literary methods are related and to explore these links in their work

Remembered Places- non-fiction texts focused around Paris
Poetic Voices- a collection of poetry by Seamus Heaney
Imagined Worlds- The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Recreative Writing- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Exploring Conflict- A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
Making Connections- Non Exam Assessment based on comparing a
literary and non-literary text
The course might be of interest to:
Those of you who enjoyed reading texts, analysing characters and applying literary and linguistic concepts at GCSE. An enjoyment of reading is required due to the nature of the course.
Potential Future Pathways
If you are considering studying English at University then this course is obviously right for you.
