Course Summary
Overview of subject:
A-level History has been designed to help students understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. The qualification will help students to gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives.
Course Details
Topics studied in the syllabus include:
- Tudors 1485 – 1603.
- Includes: Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I.
- Democracy and Nazism: Germany 1918 – 1945.
- Includes: Establishment of Weimar, The Golden Age of Weimar, the Collapse of Democracy, Nazi Dictatorship, the Racial state and the Impact of World War Two.
- NEA – Civil Rights in American in the 1950’s and 60’s
- Includes: Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Black Panthers.

Those who achieved a Grade 5 at GCSE but for anyone who has a passion in finding out why we are here at this point in time and how events in the past have shaped how we live today.
