General entry requirements of 5 GCSE grades at grade 4 or above. Plus a grade 6 in Maths at GCSE.

For a degree in Mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or actuarial science, you will almost certainly need a good Mathematics A level and possibly a further mathematics A Level.

• Mathematics is of considerable benefit if you are intending to study any of the social science or humanities subjects; in all these subjects you will be expected to analyse and interpret large data sets.

• If you are thinking of looking for a job straight after A Levels, Mathematics is a great "core" subject - in fact, it is one of the most important subjects you can take; this is because the ability to understand and manipulate numbers and mathematical concepts is extremely useful for almost any job.
