Sociology is the study of social structures and social institutions, and sociological work is often divided into such topics as the class structure of modern societies, the family crime and deviance, religion and so on ... Course Details

Core themes are covered in both YR12/13, such as class, age, gender and ethnicity.

YR12 Education, Family and research methods.

YR13 Theory and Methods, Beliefs in Society and Crime and Deviance.

Students are taught in a variety of ways from traditional lectures to encouraging independent work (using prep learning). students are assessed at least every 5 lessons. Students are expected to use a core textbook which is integrated into the delivery of course content.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

2 year linear course

In year 13 students will have completed 3 units. All units are 100% examination and 2 hours in length each. There is NO coursework.

Entry requirements

Six grade 5s (or equivalent), including at least grade 5 in Maths and English Language or Literature.

At least a 5 in Sociology if taken.
