Course Summary

WELCOME TO AFDA EDUCATION HUB:

Study a reputable BTEC course equivalent to 3 A-Levels whilst playing competitive football 4 times a week!

Do you want to work alongside former Premier League star Steve Walsh & World Cup International Footballer Muzzy Izzet? Having almost 900 professional appearances and scoring over 100 top level goals between them they have become 2 of the biggest Legends in the Leicester City history books.

Their unique program launched in 2014. Advanced Football Development Academy offers learners the opportunity to develop their football skills under the guidance of these former Leicester City players. We have recently secured the use a fantastic 4G pitch for our matches and training sessions.

Our 2-year academic programme will allow you to play competitive football matches against semi-pro academies in their in-house leagues. Currently we have 4 teams operating in a super League & Development League You will receive daily football training from our FA & UEFA coaching staff.

Wrapped around the football development programme is a reputable education programme with an excellent support structure to help you achieve a BTEC level 3 extended diploma sports qualification, which would prepare you for AFDA's Higher education programme, University, Employment, USA Scholarship or even, for those good enough, into professional/semi-pro football.

Our highly qualified sports lecturers will deliver a minimum of 12 hours BTEC Sports content per week and cover units such as Sports Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology and Sports Nutrition.

All education will take place in our well-equipped, modern, full-size modular classrooms, which can accommodate up to 30 students in each. Both equipped with interactive white boards and essential teaching and learning resources.

Any student at our Academy, if good enough, will be monitored and given professional club trials or a pathway into pro clubs. Muzzy and Steve will keep a very intensive check on your development over the period of the two years and any who show the ability, attitude and work ethic during this time to progress onto a pro club then they will certainly send you down this pathway using their extensive contacts in professional football cubs. Selected players will also be given regular opportunities to participate in sessions with Leicester City Super LEague Women's team throughout the year.

Course Details

We are partnered with one of the top education providers in the country, Sysco Brighter Futures. This partnership ensures that we run our education to the highest standards with full time experienced teachers.

The BTEC Sport Level 3 is a 2 year 180 Credit Extended Diploma with up to 168 UCAS tariff points available. The course modules include but are not limited to:

We assess our students this way as we believe it enables us to get the best out of our students academically and put them under less stress and pressure that exams bring.

Entry requirements

In order to study the Level 3 Diploma, students are required to achieve a grade 4-9 in GCSE maths and English.

For students who have not achieved a 4-9 in GCSE maths and English, we can provide a Level 3 Certificate course over 2 years alongside GCSE maths and English tutoring.

We take all applications on individual merit as we also like to accept students on to our course who have good attendance, are disciplined and well-mannered and have a passion for sport.

Your next steps...

From an academic view we have a large percentage of our students progress to study at University after finishing the course. We also have strong pathways into apprenticeships, full time work and Higher Education with the introduction of our new BSc course in partnership with Loughborough College.

From a sporting view, the academy has a strong association with LCFC Youth Academy, of whom we've played on numerous occasions, most recently with our first team playing LCFC U18's at Belvoir Drive, with this in mind ongoing scouting opportunities are available for outstanding players at LCFC and other pro clubs.

Muzzy Izzet and Steve Walsh have strong links with many business organisations, clubs and individuals in the sports industry who would recommend any exceptional learners for work. There is also the opportunity to work for Muzzy Izzet and Steve Walsh's Academy either through coaching or assisting with schools & holiday camps.

We have American Scholarship Companies come in and deliver presentations to our learners to give them an insight into the benefits of completing a football scholarship abroad. Students over the years have gone to America to study at University and play collegiate Soccer
