Why study this subject?
• You have a keen interest in sport, physical activity, health and well-being.
• Prefer a course with a greater focus on assessment through coursework (However, the course still involves elements of examination).
• Units/assignments are set around scenarios linked to the working world and therefore approach learning and assessment from a different angle to traditional A-Levels.
• You will receive one resit/resubmission per examination/assignment where appropriate.
• The course covers a wide range of topic areas which will help you enter a career/further education within the physical activity and health sector.
• This is a two year course.
• Equivalent to 3 A-Levels.

o Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being (Externally set task)
o Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry
o Unit 4: Sports Leadership
o Unit 7: Practical Sports Performance
o Unit 8: Coaching for Performance
o Unit 9: Research Methods in Sport
o Unit 19: Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity (Externally set task)
o Unit 22: Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry (Externally set task)
o Unit 23: Skill Acquisition in Sport.

o Unit 5: Application of Fitness Testing
o Unit 6: Sports Psychology
o Unit 17: Sports Injury Management
o Unit 30: Exercise, Health and Lifestyle
How will it be delivered and assessed?
How is the course assessed?
• This course is assessed through a mixture of coursework (assignments) and examination.
• For each unit you will receive one of the following grades: Distinction (D), Merit (M), Pass (P) or Unclassified.
• At the end of the course you will be awarded a grade ranging from the highest grade of D*D*D* (Distinction*) to PPP (Pass).
• If you do not achieve enough credit throughout the course, a grade of Unclassified will be awarded.
• Over the duration of the course you will cover 10 mandatory units and 4 optional units.
Entry requirements
To join the Sixth Form there is an entry criteria of five standard passes at GCSE (at least a Grade 4). This must include at least a Grade 4 in English Language and Maths at GCSE. Students will need to gain at least a Grade 4 in the subjects they would like to study at A Level
