Course Summary

This subject is targeted at learners who would like to gain employment in the uniformed protective services sector such the Police, Fire service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service, British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

It gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life as well as being designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.



Course Details

You will develop leadership and teamwork, confidence, independent research skills as well as the ability to work to deadlines, all while studying varied and intriguing units.

Units Covered in year 12:

o Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services (External Exam)

o Introduction to Criminology

Units Covered in year 13:

o Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the Uniformed Protective Services

o Police Powers and the Law


Students will have achieved the equivalent of one ‘A’ Level.

Available UCAS Points: -

D* = 56, D= 48, M= 32, P = 16


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment: 75% coursework and 25% exams
