Course Details
How do we decide which behaviour is criminal? How do we explain why some people commit crime and how can we use different theories of crime to explain this behaviour?
Level 3 Criminology is a qualification which combines elements of Psychology, Law and Sociology. Criminology is the scientific study of criminal behaviour, on individual, social and natural levels, and how it can be managed, controlled and prevented.
The course enables students to use theories of criminality to analyse criminal situations and make recommendations for policy. Students also develop the knowledge and skills to research policy in practice, assess campaigns for changes in awareness and examine information to review verdicts in criminal cases.
The course is suited to students with enquiring minds, the ability to write a well-structured essay and a willingness to study and think independently.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
50 % controlled assessment, 50 % exam.
