Course Summary
This is a technical qualification that offers the opportunities for students to take a more practical approach to their studies. This qualification can be taken alongside A Levels to provide a broad base of experience. The qualification allows students to choose a vocational pathway between health and social care.
Students will learn about how aspects of Sociology, Psychology, Biology and Law are applied to make up the subject of Health & Social Care. Key to their study will be the ability to recognise that in the diverse society we live in there is an inherent need for the provision of care.

There are 2 units in this qualification that are mandatory covering :
Human Life span development
Working in Health and Social Care
How will it be delivered and assessed?
A mix of varied units which create a course work portfolio which will be internally assessed and externally moderated. There will also be a selection of exam papers depending on the pathway chosen.
Entry requirements
6 grade 5s (or equivalent), including at least a grade 5 in English Language or Literature.
Students must have a minimum of a good pass grade in the relevant subject (if taken) at level 2.

Students who have a genuine interest in the provision of care will choose Health & Social Care and ultimately go on to become professionals in a wide and diverse number of professions. This qualification has UCAS points equivalent to A Level study
