Course Summary

This two-year course provides an opportunity for learners to gain workshop skills along with classroom study.

It is ideal for those looking to train as a fully-skilled electrician, as it is a similar programme of study to electrical apprenticeships. Many of our learners go on to secure apprenticeships as third-year entrants.

In the first year of study, you will complete Level 2 components, giving you a solid foundation of electrical installation skills before progressing on to Level 3 in the second year.

  • Renewable Energies
  • Job Planning
  • Electrical Installation Techniques
  • Electrical Design
  • Electrical Testing & Fault Finding; and
  • Principles of Elelctrical Science.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C/4, including Maths and English.

This two year course forms one major component on the journey to becoming a fully-skilled electrician as it is a similar programme of study to electrical apprentices. Many of our learners go on to secure apprenticeships as 3rd year entrants as they can demonstate to potential employers level 3 electrical skills and progression to being fully skilled in a shorter timeframe.
