Course Summary
This programme is for students who want to study horticulture. It is a technical qualification that prepares you for a career in horticultural management. You will gain the skills required for direct employment in the sector or specialised roles. Many higher education providers recognise this course for university applications.
Through this core, learners build technical competence alongside critical problem-solving, analytical thinking and digital literacy, equipping them with the confidence to apply their knowledge in both academic and real-world contexts.
Course Details
You will study ten mandatory units and five optional units. Lessons include a mix of classroom theory and practical tasks. Mandatory topics cover professional responsibilities, plant and soil science, and land-based industry issues. You will also learn about plant care, propagation, tree pruning, and event planning. The course helps you develop problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills.
Entry requirements
You need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. This must include English and Maths.
