Course Summary
This course aims to introduce you to a wide range of skills and techniques in Art and Design through set project briefs covering different disciplines. You will be introduced to drawing, painting, graphics, photography, 3D and textiles. The final major project will allow you to focus on a specialism of your choice. You will work in purposely equipped design studios and develop a range of skills through creativity, investigation and experimentation. You will work independently and also as part of a group.
Course Details
You will have opportunities to go on study visits to inspire and inform your work. We also benefit from a programme of visiting speakers, professionals who work in the Art & Design Industry. Each year students have their Art & Design work displayed in the Summer End of Year Exhibition (June).
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment is based on continuous assessment of coursework across the range of units.
A £50 studio fee includes the provision of a basic kit bag.
Entry requirements
GCSEs at grade 3 or 2, or a Pass in a Level 1 vocational programme, including English Language and Maths (grade D/3) or Functional Skills Level 1. A passionate interest in Art, Design or Photography and a willingness to learn.

Your next steps...
Most students who study this course progress onto the OCR Level 3 Art and Design course or A Level Art and Photography. Your pathway will depend on grades, especially for English and Maths. This course is essentially a pathway to further study at Level 3.
