Course Summary

This level 2 RockSchool course will equip you with a set of music industry skills at a higher level. You will choose from one of four pathways: performance, technology, business or composition. You will study modules tailored to your chosen pathway, preparing for further study or a career in the music industry. Assessments include performance, written work and presentations. Our high-quality facilities will allow you to carry out your studies in a professional setting, giving you experience in using recording equipment, rehearsal spaces and industry-standard hardware and software.

Course Details

Core pathway units include:

  • Improving Instrumental Performance
  • Music Sequencing & Production
  • How the Music Industry Works
  • Organising a Music Event
  • Live Music Performance
  • Careers in Music

Assessment will be ongoing through assignments set throughout the year. You will be creating assignment evidence in written work, presentations etc. You will also be assessed in rehearsal and development, recording and performing. Your creative and investigative work throughout will be assessed.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade at 3/4 or above including English (and ideally Maths). Students may progress from Level 1 to Level 2 following successful completion of Level 1 and improvement in English and Maths.

Your next steps...

Students who successfully complete this course can progress on to the RSL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music (Business) that can then lead to studying for a university level qualification.
