A very warm welcome to the Cedars Martin Sixth Form. The Cedars Martin sixth form is committed to the holistic development of every student. We have a small school ethos, where personalised learning and pastoral care is at the heart of the school. This continues to be the ethos within the sixth form. Our student support team also build strong links with the student's home, ensuring that there is support and understanding from all involved in their A level journey.

The Post 16 team along with our specialist Student Managers are available throughout the day to provide students with access to information and advice on a wide range of issues. Our team of Student Managers are friendly and experienced and can help you with any pastoral support you may require. The Post 16 team will guide you through the process of applying to university or an apprenticeship and offer in depth support with course searches, personal statements and interview techniques. We are also committed to helping you find relevant work experience placements to aid your holistic development.

Students in sixth form, can expect to be taught by expert teachers in small groups where they will be supported and challenged to make rapid progress and meet exacting high standards. Students have excellent resources and facilities including the Palmer-Tomkinson Centre which is our Post 16 hub.  By knowing each student; Cedars Martin Sixth Form works to instill confidence so that students make the most of their higher educational journey;  by giving access to a variety of enrichment activities and always having someone to listen to when the pressure is on.  It is this level of care that we pride ourselves on and in working together, we know the students will receive the very best in pastoral care.

General Entry Requirements

5 grade 5s (or equivalent), plus at least grade 4 in English Language or Literature. Please see specific entry requirements for individual subjects.  

All students will be expected to resit GCSE Mathematics and/or English Language if they have not achieved at least a grade 4. 

Leicestershire Sixth Form Bursary Scheme 

The Government introduced a Post-16 Bursary Scheme to enable schools and colleges to provide some financial support where a student’s financial circumstances are a barrier to their learning. Cedars Martin Sixth Form has joined together with other sixth forms in Leicestershire to provide the Leicestershire Sixth Form Bursary Scheme. We plan to offer our 16-19 bursary again in 2022 (subject to confirmation of funding). This help is available to students who want to study at Cedars Martin.  A guaranteed bursary is available to young people who are: 

• Young people in care and care leavers

• Young people in receipt of income support

• Young people on free school meals

• Disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.
