About us
The Hinckley Sixth Form is built upon a commitment to placing students first and providing them with the highest quality education. Our sixth form is a modern and aspirational learning community which prides itself on securing positive outcomes for all.
Awarded a 'Good' rating in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023, inspectors said:

As a highly successful local sixth form with a wide variety of A Level and Level 3 alternative courses, we offer young people from across our local area outstanding opportunities. Year after year our sixth form students achieve excellent exam results, securing places at Britain’s top universities and on competitive degree apprenticeships. It is our responsibility to provide our students with a stepping stone to success, in 2023 and 2024 100% of our students went onto positive destinations and in 2021 3 students received offers to study at Oxford University, while others began apprenticeships with leading companies or began careers within industry.
Our students enjoy sole use of a purpose built sixth form centre, whilst benefitting from the enviable facilities on our wider campus. Students create life-long memories and developing the knowledge to build their own brighter future.

Student support
The Hinckley Sixth Form offers a personal and unique approach to learning, in a welcoming and supportive environment, with each student receiving the time and commitment they deserve. Everyone knows your name and The Hinckley Sixth Form Leadership Team take a close interest in students’ progress and well-being, offering additional tailored support and guidance as well as mentoring and leadership opportunities.
With access to a dedicated Well-Being Support including nurse visits, anxiety workshops, personal tutors and professional counsellors, our team help to ensure that students at The Hinckley Sixth Form flourish both academically and personally. Regular well-being events featuring guest speakers, alumni, and activities such as yoga, team sports and arts and crafts help The Hinckley Sixth Form to teach students resilience, mindfulness and how to look after their mental and physical well-being.
Our SEND specialists offer support for students and their families, from designing structured support plans to designated ‘quiet’ working spaces for students with additional needs, we take the time to understand our students and listen to those close to them, creating a Post 16 journey tailored to each and every student.
All students are assigned a tutor as a daily point of contact throughout their Sixth Form journey. This experienced team support The Hinckley Sixth Form Central Team and work with students to support their academic progress and wellbeing. Regular 1-2-1 mentor meetings allow students to build strong working relationships with staff and feel part of a supportive, united community.

Specialists in Supporting the Transition to Post -16 Study
As many of our specialist team have extensive experience teaching both KS5 and KS4, at The Hinckley Sixth Form we are able to shape a unique sixth form provision built on an understanding of what our young people need at this stage of their education. Our course leads understand the knowledge and experience of Year 11 students and how best to build upon their experiences to aid personal growth and academic success as they transition to post-16 study.

Our partnership with the highly regarded multi academy trust, The Futures Trust, means that JC6 has a bright and exciting future. As our students progress through their two years of sixth form study, they will experience high expectations and inspirational teaching, a range of enriching activities beyond the classroom and a learning environment which fosters belonging, independence and aspiration.
Furthermore, our partnership with The Futures Trust brings with it significant investment into our school buildings and facilities, enabling us to create a much improved and truly outstanding learning environment for all. Working together with The Futures Trust, JC6 is building brighter futures for its students, its staff and the community of Hinckley.
Transport
The Hinckley Sixth Form students benefit from studying in a fantastic location, as our campus is located close to Hinckley town centre with bus and train stations, leisure centre, library, cafés, supermarkets and shopping and research opportunities within walking distance. Our location means we are easily accessible by foot, public transport, bike or car.
The majority of our students benefit from a short daily commute to The Hinckley Sixth Form, meaning that they can spend time focusing on their studies, as well as achieving balance with their work and social lives. Our students join us from a wide variety of locations including Hinckley, Burbage, Barwell, Earl Shilton, Stoney Stanton, Sapcote, Nuneaton and Leicester.

Car
We enjoy congratulating our students each year as they reach the milestone of passing their driving test. Students can register for a permit to park on site in our student car park, however places are limited.
Additional information
Our wide variety of Level 3 courses are supplements by an extensive array of additional opportunities which provide exceptional enrichment opportunities, including:
- Regular study visits, from exploratory field work in Geography and visiting galleries in Art, to investigating a crime at a University Forensics Day.
- Performing Arts showcases, utilising our purpose built drama studio, dance studio and stage for professional workshops, performances and rehearsals.
- Supporting younger students by becoming a mentor.
- Our bespoke 'Wise Up' programme - created to help our students gain the study skills and confidence today to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
- Organising annual The Hinckley Sixth Form charity events such as Macmillan Coffee Mornings.
