Course Summary

Male grooming is now a multi-billion pound worldwide industry – which is reflected both in the number of new barbershops opening across the country and in the number of hairdressing salons now offering traditional barbering services to their clients. You will be learning in our commercial training academy where you will work on real paying clients. This will give you invaluable barbershop experience alongside building-up your practical and theoretical skills so that – when the time comes for you to enter the world of work – your CV will stand-out from the crowd.

We offer Barbering at Level 2. Heart of England Training has great links with employers – so if you would like to progress onto a paid apprenticeship or full-time employment, we can assist you.

Course Details

Mandatory units include:

  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Cut hair using basic techniques.
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Your performance will be monitored throughout the programme by our trainers through practical demonstrations, observations, assignments and theory work. If you need to incorporate functional skills (English and Maths) into your training, you can choose how and when you would like to take your exam(s).

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, if you do not hold a GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths, we will incorporate English and/or Maths functional skills or GCSEs into your training.

Your next steps...

Upon successful completion of your study programme, you can work towards the next level (up to level 3) either remaining on a study programme within the Academy or by moving over to an apprenticeship in a local salon or spa. Alternatively, you could look at expanding your skillset with a complementary apprenticeship such as Customer Service.
