Course Summary
This course is ideal if you who are interested in a career in the beauty therapy industry. It allows you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in this field.
Beauty therapy is a caring and rewarding industry but also requires hard work and dedication. This qualification is intended to provide a broad background of the beauty therapy industry and the vocational skills and knowledge required. Course content is highly practical and covers a broad range of beauty therapy skills. This course is very intense which requires total commitment and self-study at home in order to be successful.
Course Details
The treatments that will be taught in this qualification are manual facial to include steaming, exfoliation and mask application, manicure, pedicure, eyebrow shaping, waxing, head massage, nail art, make-up, lash and brow tinting. This course also includes reception skills, client care, promoting services and products and health and safety. Additionally, home study will also be needed.
If you are 16-19 years old work experience opportunities and placements are available. You can also choose to take part in other career related activities. For adults, activities will be tailored to your needs. How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course is an approximate split of 60% practical and 40% theory. There is science-based knowledge that needs to be learnt and understood in order to complete practical treatments and pass this qualification.
You will be assessed through a range of practical assessment techniques, observations, assignments and online unit tests.
Entry requirements
To enrol onto this course you will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths or Functional Skills level 1 in both English and maths. Additionally, we will also require you to have evidence of 90% attendance and a positive reference from your last place of work or study.
If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be enrolled on a study programme. This will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above.
