Course Summary

This starter course will help you to learn about working in the construction industry. You will have hands-on sessions learning the basic skills of lots of different construction jobs.

Course Details

Principles of building construction
Basic hand skills to produce timber joint and framework
Basic brickwork and blockwork projects
Basic painting and decorating

Entry requirements

GCSE grades of 1 or above in English and maths or equivalent.

Equipment required

Stationery equipment and Personal Protective Equipment to include a high-vis vest, safety boots/shoes and recommended textbooks. As a student at NWSLC, you are not required to pay material fees. You will only need to obtain your own PPE kit, which includes overalls and steel toe cap boots. However, we might be able to support you with funding for your PPE equipment, just get in touch with us.”
