Course Summary

This course is designed for students who would like to work in the Health and Social Care industry. You will be completing a number of units/modules: healthy eating for children, adults and teenagers, dealing with conflict of children, teenagers and adults who are in care, understanding of Youth Work drugs and alcohol awareness, Understanding of personal issues affecting adults, rights and responsibilities of parents and disability awareness.

In addition to your course specialism, Functional Skills maths and English, Employability Skills and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) are embedded within your programme of study. At the beginning of your course you will complete a diagnostic assessment to identify your starting point level.

Course Details

As part of the course students will take part in a visit to a Sure Start Centre, Netherhall (Leicester) and a Special School to see younger children.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will develop a portfolio of units. For each unit you will be given an assignment brief and a work log book.

You will gain a Short Course Award Health and Social Care.


Entry requirements

6 GCSEs at grade F and G (2/1), including English Language and Maths or Functional Skills or Entry Level success.

To access the Level 1 course you need to have gained an Entry Level 3 English qualification.

Your next steps...

If you gain the PHSE Short course and complete the ASDAN COPE Level 1 Certificate you will be able to progress into Level 2 Health and Social Care.
