Course Summary

This course will enable you to work with a range of animals and develop your practical skills. Units of study in the programme will also provide you with underpinning knowledge of animal health, behaviour, food and care requirements.

Work experience (150 hours)

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English, Maths and Science OR progression from Level 1 with a Merit profile, English and Maths at a grade 3 or above and a suitable reference.

Your next steps...

Students who complete Level 2 Animal Care with a grade of Merit or above may progress onto a higher level college course or an Apprenticeship.

Potential roles within the industry include: animal welfare assistant, veterinary nurse, dog trainer, dog groomer, kennel/cattery manager, educator, zoo keeper, animal rehabilitation assistant, animal welfare assistant, animal nutritionist, conservation officer and more.
