Course Summary

This course proves a broad overview of the music sector, with focus on performance, development of musical skills and professional practice.

(Please be aware that the Department for Education is currently reviewing Applied General Qualifications for 16-19 year olds, with publication of the findings not due until December 2024. Following this, we will update our course offer and units for September 2025 entry.)


Course Details

There are four separate units: Solo performance, ensemble music performance, practical music theory and harmony, and professional practice in the music industry.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each unit is assessed differently, usually consisting of a collation of continuous videos, diaries, assessment and reflection sheets, articles, compositions, and a controlled exam.

Entry requirements

There are no specific graded entry requirements other than to have competence on a musical instrument or voice and of course a passion for music.

Your next steps...

Up to 56 UCAS points (equivalent of an A* at A level). Directly leads to a music college course and accepted by vast majority of colleges and universities. Provides practical knowledge and skills to be applied when working in the music sector.
