Application Instructions
Course Summary
T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do as an alternative to A levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship. They bring classroom learning and an extended industry placement together on a course designed with businesses and employers. The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
Course Details
Core – Year One
The core element of a T Level in Health will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as the principles of good scientific practice, standard operating procedures, management of equipment and work areas. You will also learn about providing person centred care, infection control and apply core science concepts with practical work-based skills such as clinical measurement and patient assessment. You will learn through hands on experience using state of the art equipment in our bespoke simulation health suite. Throughout year one, there will be employer visits, university visits, guest speakers and the opportunity to apply your learning on your first industry placement.
Occupational Specialism – Year Two
Option B: Supporting the Midwifery Team
You will continue to participate in industry placements, which will be tailored to the occupational specialism that you have chosen. You will learn how to undertake physiological measurement and assist in the assessment and proviso of comfort and wellbeing of individuals, including moving and handling safely. This learning will also be supported by hands on clinical learning in the dedicated health suite supported by specialist staff from the health and science sectors.
Options B (Supporting the Midwifery Team) will only be able to run if there are sufficient students opting for this specialism otherwise all students will be placed on the adult nursing pathway, which will not prevent entry into university in one of the other specialisms. If there is insufficient demand then your teachers will support your practise of the relevant specialist clinical skills for your occupational specialism, and you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your learning when supporting your specific healthcare team during your industry placement.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
