Course Summary
The course is designed to be fun, exciting and thought provoking. Art, craft and design encourages diverse ways of understanding, interpreting, evaluating, and feeling; supporting the development of a sense of individual and collective identity; increased social awareness and engagement and enhanced opportunities for vocational learning and subject-related careers.
Entering the qualification with confident technical recording and editing skills and an inquiring mind, tutors support students to research a chosen starting point, using critical understanding to analyse a broad range of contextual sources. Results will inform and justify the application of the visual language of art and design, which will include exploration of alternative materials, techniques, and processes.
Course Details
During Year 12, students will explore the many disciplines of Art, Craft and Design and be introduced to a broad range of materials, processes, and techniques such as drawing, photography, visual communication, fashion & textiles, 3D Making and printmaking as an introduction to the subject. Students will then have the choice to build on their individual strengths and select their chosen area of study.

Entry requirements
Grade 5 from a suitably equivalent GCSE art & design qualification or Merit from a BTEC Art and Design
