Course Summary

This course is ideal if you are looking for an accessible course to give you a solid base of practical learning before you progress to your chosen vocational area. During this course you will gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in your chosen vocational areas which will help you prepare for further education as well as working life after education.

You will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to go onto study childcare, health and social care or teacher training.

After college you can progress into roles such as support worker or care team leader. You can also progress to a higher-level apprenticeship or degree course.

You can select from the following occupational areas:

Hospitality and catering

Office and business units

Retail and service enterprise units

Sports, leisure and tourism units

Employability and social development units


Each module focuses on the practical skills and knowledge required to work within the sectors of childcare, health and social care and teacher training.

You will also complete work experience in the occupational role you want to progress onto.

Entry requirements

Some evidence of work experience and a level 1 GCSE profile.
