Course Summary
This course is a stepping stone into a career in travel and tourism, introducing you to a wide range of industry areas such as working in hotels, hospitality, and other travel and tourism industries. You will learn all of the key principles of the travel sector, preparing you to explore various avenues of work or to progress onto the next level in education.
Course Details
This course offers a diverse overview of the travel industry, as well as essential areas of hospitality, including how tourism companies plan, sales, promotion and the importance of great customer service. You will also gain experience in planning trips for specific types of customers, learning about personal effectiveness, and and introduction to the world of travel and tourism If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme. How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessments will involve a combination of report writing, leaflets, displays and presentations. You will also be expected to take part in an assessed role-play exercise.
Entry requirements
Entry to this course requires one reference and a GCSE in both English and maths at grade 1/2 or above. It is also desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Upon successfully completing Level 1, you will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to advance to Level 2 in Travel and Tourism. Level 1 will provide a solid foundation of essential skills and knowledge, opening doors to opportunities in the travel and tourism industry. Potential career paths include roles in airports, airlines and overseas resort representatives, or as tour guides.
