Course Summary

The Level 1 Media course is an ideal starting point for learners who want to develop their media and creative production skills in a supportive and practical environment.

Throughout the course, you will learn the basics of creating digital media content, including photography, video production, animation and graphic design. You will work on a range of exciting projects that help you to develop creative ideas, tell stories through images and video and learn how media products are planned and produced.

You will also develop important personal and employability skills, including teamwork, communication, organisation and time management. Learning how to manage projects and meet deadlines will help prepare you for further study and future careers, progression onto level 2 media skills, or other creative programmes.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE’s at grade 2 or above

Or

Successful completion of an Entry 3 programme with positive behaviour and attendance.

Equipment required

You don’t need to bring your own equipment to start, but having a smartphone is really helpful for filming and photography. We’ll recommend some excellent apps like Blackmagic Camera and Aardman Animator to support your learning and creativity. Just remember to bring your own SD card and something to take notes with.
