Level 1 Painting and Decorating

On this introduction course, you will learn the basic skills to become a painter and decorator. You will get to work on real-life community projects and learn to develop the skills you will need to move onto the next level.As a student at NWSLC, you are not required to pay material fees. You will only need to obtain your own PPE kit, which includes overalls and steel toe cap boots. However, we might be able to support you with funding for your PPE equipment, just get in touch with us.

Prepare surfaces for decoration; Painting a flush door; Painting a door frame/skirting/window frame; Stripping/applying a wall covering to a ceiling area; Health and Safety; English and maths functional skills

GCSE grades of 3 or above in English and maths or equivalent.

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study the Level 2 Painting and decorating course or progress onto a Level 2 Apprenticeship, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry.
