Course Summary

In this introductory course, you will learn the basic skills to become a painter and decorator. You will get to work on real-life community projects and learn to develop the skills you will need to move on to the next level.

Course Details

Prepare surfaces for decoration

Painting a flush door

Painting a door frame/skirting/window frame

Stripping/applying a wall covering to a ceiling area

Entry requirements

GCSE grades of 3 or above in English and maths or equivalent.

Equipment required

Learners will have to provide their own stationery equipment, PPE and suitable workwear. As a student at NWSLC, you are not required to pay material fees. You will only need to obtain your own PPE kit, which includes overalls and steel toe cap boots. However, we might be able to support you with funding for your PPE equipment, just get in touch with us.

Your next steps...

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study the Level 2 Painting and decorating course or progress onto a Level 2 Apprenticeship, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry.
