Course Summary

This course covers the advanced technical needs to work in the motor vehicle repair industry within the body and paint repair sector. It provides essential knowledge for paint technicians working on vehicles such as cars, vans in all kinds of garages, dealerships and body shops. The paint refinish course focuses on areas such as the initial foundation material stage, right through to the final finished topcoat.

Course Details

This Level 3 qualification covers both theory and practical aspects, including preparation and application procedures, diagnosis and rectifying of paint faults, working with plastic materials and components, preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces, establishing paint defects, applying topcoats and completing refinishing, along with colour matching. Learners also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are 4 GCSE at Grade 4(C) or above including English and Maths or progression from Level 2 or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
