Level 3 Games Design

This course covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the games industry. The course is designed to be practical in nature and takes you through the project-based workflow required by the industry through concept, research, design, development, testing, and evaluation. You will complete 3 projects in the first year and 3 in the second. Both years have a final larger project which gives you an opportunity to show off the skills you have learnt throughout the year. In total you will create a minimum of 6 games and a variety of 2D, 3D and audio assets over the course for your portfolio.

• Concept Art
• Pixel Art
• 3D Modelling & Animation techniques
• How to research for games design
• Critically reflecting and analysing video games
• Your place in the industry
• Designing, recording, and creating sound effects and music
• History of games, gaming platforms, storytelling, and key game design theory

Entry requirements are 4 GCSE at Grade C/4 or above or a relevant Level 2 qualification.

Following completion you can go on to degree level study or employment.
