Course Summary
YEP usually only accepts learners with education, health and care plans (EHCPs), however, if you feel YEP is the right setting, please continue to apply and we will aim to see if a suitable program is available, and aim to meet your needs. YEP is a small group / high support provider. Many of our learners prefer not to attend mainstream provision.
Childcare for vocation at YEP! readies learners for the workplace.
With an emphasis on learning the skills needed to work in the Childcare sector, the NOCN level 1 course covers customer service skills and health and safety knowledge required to work in a nursery. You will also explore various aspects of caring for babies and young children, along with safeguarding issues. You will practice IT skills, as the course is recorded on Google Classroom, and you will spend time on examining your next steps in this field.
The course explores options and pathways for learners and tailored help with progression is a key part of the course. Level 1 takes around 25 weeks to complete and could lead to a level two apprenticeship with a nursery, providing your maths and English are also at the required level.
We recommend finding a work experience placement to enhance your chances of further progression.
Course Details
You will be enrolled onto a Study Programme, a recognised full-time course which will (in addition to the Childcare Qualification) include Maths, English and employability skills
We will also work on your Personal and Social Development (PSD)
Important: Please ensure that YEP is not your only option selected for the year 2025-26, whilst we confirm how the courses will be funded.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will build a portfolio of work throughout your programme which will be submitted to NOCN, the awarding body. No exams will have to be sat.

Your next steps...
