Introduction to Sewing:

This sewing course will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing, along with health and safety and risk assessment in the sewing room, this course will help you build your confidence, and learn different sewing techniques and develop a range of related sewing skills.

Before you tell yourself that you do not sew, that you don’t have the patience, that you are not creative enough..... Take a deep breath.

This is the perfect sewing course for you if you are a complete beginner wishing to have a thorough introduction to using a sewing machine, learning different sewing techniques and understanding commercial patterns, leading on to making a simple skirt or shirt

By the end of the course you should have the beginnings of a portfolio for application for further study in fashion and a clear idea of whether the work of a fashion designer or some other role in this diverse and vibrant industry is for you.

Course Details

You will be enrolled onto a Programme of Study course , a recognised full-time programme which will in addition to the Fashion Qualification include Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT and/or GCSE

We will also work on your Personal and Social Development.

Important: Please ensure that YEP is not your only option selected for the year 2025-26, whilst we confirm how the courses will be funded.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

During your course you will build up a portfolio of work which will be assessed. There are no exams

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements only a keen interest in the fashion industry and a willingness to learn seamstressy.
