Course Summary

An aspirational and varied course providing breadth and depth of knowledge with a focus on both British and international history. The course aims to ensure students can understand the process of change overtime as well as considering the significance of events and their impact. Throughout the course we consider how social, economic and political factors have contributed to change, enabling students to understand their place within society.

Course Details

1F Industrialisation and the People.

The study looks at the role of industrialisation and its impact on people and politics. We explore the impact of popular protests and the powerful figures leading them. We also consider the changing role of government and the impact of legislation on the people.

2Q The American Dream

The study considers the development of American society from 1945 until 1980. We consider the impact each president had on the American Dream. The course looks in depth at the domestic policy of each president and how far this changed the lives of America citizens and whether the American Dream was achievable. Alongside this the course looks at America as a world power and their role in the Cold War.


How will it be delivered and assessed?

2 x 2.5 hour exams and NEA (Coursework) which is worth 20%

It’s the higher education route into History, Archaeology, Law and Politics.
