The Level 1 Engineering course is a hands-on, practical programme that introduces learners to engineering while building confidence, teamwork, and employability skills. Learners gain real-world experience using tools, basic electrical work, and CAD, preparing them for Level 2 study or further vocational pathways in engineering, digital, or business industries.
Learners develop core skills such as organisation, teamwork, communication, and planning through units including Being Organised, Working with Others, Developing a Personal Progression Plan, and Researching a Topic. Engineering-focused units provide hands-on experience using tools and technology through Manufacturing an Engineered Product Using Hand Tools, Carrying out Electrical Installation, and Producing Engineering Drawings Using CAD. Learners also build problem-solving and digital skills through Creating a Spreadsheet to Solve Problems and develop professional communication skills in Communicating with Customers. Assessment is coursework and practical-based, supporting progression to Level 2 engineering or related vocational pathways.
