Course Summary
Overview A Level Linguistics (English Language) takes you on a journey, from learning how we acquire language in infancy, to exploring how we use language as adults. You’ll discover how factors such as gender and age impact upon our language choices, studying how we speak and write in a wide variety of contexts. There will be multiple opportunities to write creatively, and understand how both fiction and non-fiction pieces are crafted. We explore how language is used in the 21st century, analysing the ways in which words have come into existence. You will become confident at analysing all the finer details of written and spoken texts and have a deeper understanding of how writers and editors use language to communicate. Linguistics provides skills for any career that involves written or spoken communication.
