Course Summary
Prose, poetry and drama texts both old and modern. Develop analytical skills and your use of technical language through your own close reading, as well as appreciating the interpretations of other critics and audiences. Through wider reading and genre analysis you will explore connections and comparisons between different texts. Learn how context influences authors and audiences in the creation of your response to different kinds of texts.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
This is a two year course with the following assessment points:
- End of year 12 internal examinations
- Year 13 coursework (3000 word comparative essay) and external examinations
Entry requirements
Grade 6 or above in GCSE English Literature.

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in English studies or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Literature such as a Teacher, Journalist, Author or Poet.
