Course Summary
Film Studies is designed to deepen your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. You will study film as a medium, art form and as a social and economic institution. The course will develop skills of observation, critical analysis and personal reflection. You will engage with a wide variety of films. Assessment: AS level FM1: Coursework (40%) Micro Analysis, Practical Application of Learning, FM2: Examination (60%) Film Industry, British Film, US Film. A2 level FM3: Coursework (50%) Small scale research project, Practical Application of Learning, FM4 Examination (50%) World cinema, Spectatorship, Close Study Film.
Entry requirements
Grade 5 or above in English Literature.

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as Media or English, to prepare for higher education in related courses or more general higher education courses.
